I met Apolline & Gildas on the waterfront of the Jardine Purification Plant overlooking the Chicago skyline. She is French-American and he was born and bred in France. Apolline was visiting Gildas in the city and was hopping on an early flight the next day to go back home to Paris to continue her studies. Gildas has been in Chicago for a few months now for an internship and this was the last day they would spend together until he comes back home. These two have been together for 5 years and counting since they met at University. Like me, they are bandwagon Cubs fans. We really just bought them because we were at the parade. And yes, I got them to swap hats because, why not. It was a perfect weekend in the city: so much energy, amazing warm weather, and lots of couples in love on this side of town. I’m so happy I got to capture this moment for them seeing is how they said they have never had photos taken and were just talking about getting photographed. I always feel a little sad leaving people I’ve met from far away, but always have full confidence that paths will cross in the future.
